Core Definition
Integrity: the wholeness of character—consistency between what we profess and how we live; alignment of inner convictions with outward actions; reliability in all circumstances because of a rightly ordered relationship with God.

1. Biblical Foundation: What Integrity Looks Like

A. Integrity in the Old Testament (Tanakh)

Wholeness and Uprightness: The Hebrew concept of "Tova" (good) or "Tamiym" (blameless/complete) in the context of relationship with God (e.g., Genesis 6:9; Proverbs).
Speech and Deeds Aligned**: Proverbs repeatedly links integrity with honest speech and righteous living (e.g., Proverbs 10:9; 11:3; 12:22; 19:1).
Trustworthiness in Community: Integrity as reliability in agreements and duties (Psalm 15; Psalm 101).

Key verses:

Psalm 15:1-2, 3: “Who may dwell in your sanctuary? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right…”
Proverbs 10:9: “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
Proverbs 11:3: “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”
Numbers 30:2; Deuteronomy 23:23 (vows and commitments kept).

B. Integrity in the New Testament (Brit Chadasha)

Character Consistency in Christ: Paul emphasizes the fruit of the Spirit and living as new creations (Galatians 5; Ephesians 4–6).
Truth-Telling and Love: Jesus’ teaching on truth and loving one’s neighbor as oneself; integrity is evidenced in honesty, humility, and service.
Stewardship and Faithfulness: Parables and exhortations about being faithful stewards (Luke 12; Matthew 25).

Key verses:
John 14:6; John 17:17 (truth and sanctification in the Word); Titus 2:7-8; Titus 3:8.
Ephesians 4:25: “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor.”
Colossians 3:9-10: “Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self…”
2 Corinthians 8:21: “For we aim at what is honorable not only in the sight of the Lord but also in the sight of man.”
James 1:22-27: Hearing and doing the Word; pure religion expressed in keeping oneself unstained from the world.

2. Why Integrity Matters for a Disciple

Honors God: God desires a people whose lives reflect His character (1 Peter 1:15-16; Matthew 5:16).

Builds Trust: Relationships, leadership, and ministry rely on credibility (Proverbs 20:28; 1 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

Witness to the Gospel: A life consistent with profession backs the message of grace, truth, and transformation (John 13:34-35; Titus 2:9-10).

Prepares for Responsibility: Integrity under pressure reveals maturity and readiness for greater stewardship (Luke 16:10-12; 1 Timothy 3:7)

. In Speech
Speak truth with grace; avoid gossip, manipulation, or deceit.
Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no (James 5:12; Matthew 5:37).
Practical steps:
Pause before speaking to consider: Is this truthful? Is it helpful? Is it loving?
Speak in a way that builds others up (Ephesians

4:29).

3. Integrating Integrity into Daily Life

A. In Thoughts

Guarding inner motives: Why do I want to achieve this? Is there pride, fear of man, or self-interest?
Practice contemplative honesty: regularly audit inner dialogue against Scripture.
Practical steps:
Start or end each day with a quick integrity check: “What thoughts did I entertain that were not in line with God’s Word?”
Memorize and meditate on verses about truth and purity (e.g., Psalm 51:6; Philippians 4:8).

  1. In Actions

Follow through on commitments; be punctual; fulfill responsibilities faithfully.

Let service overtake self-interest; seek the good of others (Philippians 2:3-4).

    Practical steps:

Create a personal covenant of commitments (work, family, church) and keep an accountability partner.

If you miss something, own it quickly and make restitution where needed (Matthew 5:23-24).

    D. In Community and Leadership

Lead by example; integrity in public and private reflects the character of God.

Avoid compromising situations; set boundaries that protect credibility (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).

    Practical steps:

Develop transparent routines: honesty in finances, time management, and decision-making.

Seek mentors and become a mentor; accountability enhances integrity (Hebrews 13:17; Proverbs 27:17).

    E. In Temptation and Suffering

Integrity is often tested in pressure; persevere with faith and rely on God’s strength (Romans 5:3-5; 2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

    Practical steps:

Memorize Scripture for moments of temptation.

Use a pre-decided plan for conflict or moral risk (Boundaries, repentance, confession).

  1. 4. The Disciplines that Foster Integrity

Prayer: Align your will with God’s will; invite the Holy Spirit to empower truthful living (Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:16-18).

Scripture Memorization: Let Word shape perception and behavior (Psalm 119:9-11).

Community Accountability: Honest relationships that challenge and encourage (James 5:16; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).

Simplicity and Stewardship: Manage resources and time in a way that honors God (Matthew 6:19-21; 1 Timothy 6:6-10).

Repentance and Restoration: When failure occurs, confess, seek forgiveness, and restore integrity (1 John 1:9; Galatians 6:1-2).

    5. Reflection and Commitment

    Personal Reflection Questions

In what areas of life do I feel pressure to compromise integrity? Why?

What is one practical change I can make this week to live more transparently and truthfully?

Who can hold me accountable in my journey toward integrity?

    Short-Term Commitment (30 days)

I will keep a daily integrity journal: one situation where I spoke truthfully, one where I failed, and one discipline I’ll strengthen.

I will share a brief testimony of integrity with a trusted friend or mentor to receive accountability.

    Long-Term Vision (3–6 months)

Develop a habit of truthful living in all spheres: family, work, church, online presence.

Build a reputation for reliability, humility, and love for others as a disciple of Yesuha.

  1. 6. Prayer for Integrity

Heavenly Father, grant me integrity of heart and courage to live in truth. Help me align my thoughts, words, and deeds with Your Word. May my life reflect Your character and bring honor to Your Name. Give me grace to endure pressure, to repent quickly, and to serve others selflessly. Fill me with Your Spirit, produce in me the fruit of truth, righteousness, and faithfulness, and equip me to be a faithful witness of the gospel. In Yeshua’s name, Amen.
